Library Specialist I
According to recent reports, academic libraries have struggled to ensure representative numbers of library employees of color, finding that 71 percent of staff in U.S. academic libraries identify as white, (Schonfeld, R. Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity: Members of the Association of Research Libraries. August 2017.) In response to this report, W&M Libraries developed the Mosaic Diversity Program, which provides valuable, paid library work experience to recent graduates interested in exploring library careers. Applicants of minority backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Selected individual(s) will be matched with a library project that appeals to their interest and skill set. The fellowship program also includes mentorship and programming around topics including diversity and inclusion, librarianship, and issues in higher education.

- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and seek solutions.
