Vice President of Academic Affairs
Wayne State College, a comprehensive public college in Nebraska, invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Student Affairs. The College is seeking an experienced and visionary leader who can provide direction in administering a comprehensive portfolio of programs, services, and strategic initiatives that support students in and out of the classroom. The Vice President serves as a member of the senior leadership team of the College, reporting directly to the President.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, or other relevant field; doctorate preferred
- Seven years of experience in Student Affairs that demonstrates increasing administrative and management responsibilities
- Strong experience in one or more of the functional areas within the portfolio preferred - Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, staff supervision and management, fiscal oversight, and facility planning
- Strong operational and business management skills that foster a climate of data driven decision making from knowledge of best practices in Student Affairs
- Understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Excellent communication, team building, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to relate to and work with a range of professional staff, faculty, senior administrative colleagues, students, parent and guardians, alumni, and off-campus constituencies
Nature of work:
The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) reports to the President, is a member of the administrative management team and cabinet, and serves as the senior student affairs officer. The VPSA is responsible for creating, leading, and supporting an environment that promotes student growth and development. A major focus of the position is creating experiences and engagement opportunities that retain students and facilitate degree completion. The VPSA provides leadership, vision, and direction to the programs and services within Student Affairs which include: Residential Life, Student Activities and the Student Center, Multicultural Affairs and International Programs, Counseling, Student Health, Title IX Compliance, Campus Security, TRiO Student Support Services, Bookstore, and Campus Dining.
Responsibilities:
The Vice President will:
- Provide vision, strategic direction, and leadership for Student Affairs
-Hire and supervise professional and support staff to carry out the Student Affairs mission
- Oversee and manage strategic planning for Student Affairs in a manner that improves accountability, sustainability, and effectiveness
- Develop and manage all budgets in the unit - Encourage and support a campus community that values and supports diverse thoughts and viewpoints, and develop initiatives to enhance genuine inclusion
- Serve as an advocate for student welfare; advise the student government organization
- Work collaboratively with the College’s leadership to develop strategies for enhancing student recruitment and retention
- Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership on programs and initiatives that support student learning
- Promote a culture of assessment and continuous improvement in Student Affairs, and make evidence-based decisions regarding programs and services
- Keep the President apprised of critical student life issues
Develop and maintain partnerships with campus, alumni, and local community stakeholders - Provide leadership in interpreting and implementing Nebraska State College System (NSCS), state, and federal policies and regulations related to student services
- Provide leadership and manage the campus dining and bookstore contracts
