Intercollegiate Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director - Eligibility and Monitoring (Counseling Services Coordinator).

This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Eligibility: Assist in processing initial, transfer and continuing eligibility for assigned sports. Evaluate prospective student-athlete initial academic and amateurism eligibility (e.g. transcripts and amateurism questionnaires). Serve as a contact with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Initial Eligibility Center and UW admissions office.
Monitoring: Independently monitor and create policy and procedures for multiple areas of compliance. Those areas include Bylaw 17 (e.g. season declarations and CARA), Personnel (e.g. coaching limits and non-coaching personnel involved in coaching activities, etc.), Amateurism (prize money, outside competition, etc.) and student-athlete employment.
Amateurism Eligibility: Monitor incoming and continuing student-athlete amateurism. Responsible for NCAA and Pac-12 rules interpretations regarding amateurism. Counsel students and coaches regarding amateurism situations. Provide accurate interpretive information regarding amateurism. Write waivers regarding amateurism as needed.
Education: Independently create educational materials and organize in-person educational sessions for assigned sports. Responsible for creating a timeline for educational efforts, provide timely materials and document these activities.
Work closely with other athletic department staff members and outside entities with regards to compliance in the areas listed above such as the parking department, ticket office, business office, and on-campus food services.
This position requires highly specialized knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and how they integrate with institutional guidelines. Must be able to identify and resolve problems and issues in a timely manner using independent judgment and decision-making abilities. Assist with NCAA and Pac-12 rules interpretations. Assist in providing rules education for coaches, student-athletes, administrators and representatives of athletics interests.
Work directly with ICA staff, coaches and student-athletes to promote a positive compliance environment maintaining compliance with University, Pacific-12 Conference, and NCAA regulations and federal and state law.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pacific-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years of related working experience. Applicant must have a working knowledge of NCAA regulations, NCAA Legislative Services Database and the NCAA Eligibility Center. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to assume a variety of independent responsibilities and tasks assigned.
Individual must be able to work under pressure in a busy and diverse environment handling confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner. Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and to prioritize and complete several tasks and meet deadlines. Must have a working knowledge of Word, Excel and database applications.
DESIRABLE
Post-graduate degree. Website programming skills.
